What is Los Angeles if not the biggest seat of entertainment in the world? Theme Parks number in the high hundreds. My personal favorites are those with monster roller coasters and of course, good old Disneyland and Universal Studios. Aside from these, one place I never tire of is Medieval Times. It is a theme dinner theater in a Medieval Castle where knights battle in a full-sized arena. There are duelling knights: jousting, sword-fighting, and spear throwing, plus Andalusian horse shows. The Andalusian horses are of outstanding beauty and of champion stock. When they are at a thundering gallop their proud barrel chests shake slightly and their legs pound the earth with menacing thuds--a combination of grace and power in these magnificent beasts. And then, there is authentic medieval feasting on pewter dinnerware with ribs and roast chicken eaten with bare hands. There is no flatware service in this joint!
Before each battle. the knights throw flowers to the ladies in the audience. Both Maverick and Belli, on separate occasions were recepients of flowers from chivalrous knights. Pippi should be so lucky, this time around it was her turn. The green knight kissed a long-stemmed carnation, pointed it at her, and flung it in the air straight to her waiting arms. She has been walking on clouds for several days now; her mind, filled with unicorns and castles in the air; the carnation, pressed firmly in between pages of a book.
Please take your children to see it. Unforgettable!
